In a generation of indie rockers and pop princesses, Cobra Starship fit in quite nicely. This year especially, artists of today's party realm have strived to keep up with the ever-changing loves and loathes of their teenager audience.

As we know, the materialistic Gen Y's rule the sales of pop music CDs and concert tickets, demonstrating an importance for up and coming music sensations; to create an image in reflection of what sells. Cobra Starship, in my eyes, has successfully achieved this. Songs like "Pete Wentz Is the Only Reason We're Famous" and "I May Be Rude But I'm The Truth" demonstrate the edgy and audacious sound that today's...

All musicians, credible ones at least, can recognize a distinction between inspiration and originality. They would have to otherwise they'd have no choice but to pursue a career under the banner of something like GABBA or Dread Zeppelin. You can see many who have tried and fail to be 'inspired' by their inspiration, straying too close to the elements that define the original.

People like Elly Jackson from La Roux have been able to extend the metaphorical logic of the sounds they have previously heard, to introduce unexpected ideas and build a parallel story of their own. Clearly influenced by all things 80's culture, La Roux's presence both physically and audibly is simultaneously familiar yet conceptually unknown. I'll admit I was initially sceptic of La Roux as I generally am with most electropop but the layering in their production, lyrically and structurally is...

The Mess Hall have been a favourite around the Frontier office for a while now. Hailing from Sydney these boys have built a solid reputation for explosive live performances, killer hooks and undeniably awesome videos.

Their latest single 'Bell' is no exception. Already a favourite on triple j, 'Bell' is The Mess Hall's lead single from their highly anticiapted third album, and a mind-blowing return from the band. As soon as we saw the video we knew we had to...

Moshroom was lucky enough to be at this year's ARIA Awards.  We were a bit sad to see The Temper Trap miss out on winning their nominations, but they definitely made everyone stand up and take notice with a rocking performance that many are calling the stand out of the night!  Check it out for yourself (apologies for the audio being a bit dodgy - it sounded great in the room!) and watch the video below!

 James Reyne sings The King

Moshroom stumbled across the news today that legendary rocker James Reyne will be releasing a new album of Elvis covers in April 2010.  Sounds interesting, we thought, and did some more investigating and found these words about the project from the man himself.

"For years I've held a kind of fanciful curiosity about Elvis Presley.

Not just that I've long thought he was an extraordinarily under-rated singer, who, as such, had sometimes been over-looked as a bit frivolous and run of the alley; who had instinctively recorded some of the most groundbreaking, influential and exciting music ever, when there was no rule-book, and NOBODY had come...

The Temper Trap

December 29, 2009

The Corner Hotel

Hitting Australian shores for the first time in nearly nine months, the Liberation Golden Children and Prodigies of Australian Pop-Rock The Temper Trap played an exclusive and intimate show as a warm up for their upcoming summer of Australian Festivals. A sold out and jammed packed Corner Hotel was the perfect venue for this and gave the crowd a sense of being part of the set and getting up close and personal to the band that has more than the potential to be the hottest band in the country.

Walking on stage to a unanimous applause and several screams of excitement, the band casually ripped into an upbeat instrumental that revved the crowd up an extra notch. The first impression of the band is that they are confident in their ability and they look like they belong on centre stage and for this reason...

It is with much sadness that we heard the news about The Knack's front man; Doug Fieger who passed away at his home in LA today.

We were thrilled to have Doug join us on our last Countdown Spectacular tour in 2007. He was a great performer and a true gentlemen who luckily for us was at that time enjoying a brief remission from cancer.

It was fantastic to see Doug get up and perform The Knack's huge chart topping hit of the 80's to thrilled audiences right across Australia. All singing along to 'M M M My Sharona'. We would like to salute Doug for his courage and bravery throughout his battle with ill health.

On behalf of us all at The Frontier Touring Company and the cast and crew of The Countdown Spectacular 2 tour of 2007, we would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Doug's manager; Jake and to all of his family and friends. In tribute to Doug, here...

The Frontier Touring Company would like to congratulate Ryan Bingham on winning the Golden Globe for 'Best Original Song' for 'The Weary Kind'; the theme song for the movie 'Crazy Heart' starring Jeff Bridges.

Ryan co-wrote 'The Weary Kind' with producer/songwriter T-Bone Burnett. The song has also been nominated for an Oscar.

A couple of huge accolades for this very talented young artist. Ryan Bingham last toured Australia with Frontier in 2008 as special guest support of Kasey Chambers. Ryan & his band The Dead Horses are currently recording their new album with T Bone Burnett. Scheduled for release on The Lost Highway label late 2010.

THE DINGOES - TRACKS New album and Tour announced.

Last August 2009, The Dingoes were rightfully instated into the ARIA Hall Of Fame much to the joy of their peers and their fans.

Messrs John Bois, Broderick Smith, Chris Stockley and Kerryn Tolhurst gathered together on stage for the first time in 30 years to accept the accolade on behalf of themselves and the much missed John Lee who was - and still is - very much with them in spirit.

As a result, fires were rekindled and the creative juices set flowing again and the four gathered at Kerryn Tolhurst's studio in Tucson, Arizona early in 2010 to see how it felt to play together again. It felt and sounded good. The consequence is a brand new album from The Dingoes titled 'Tracks' and featuring ten new ones. 'Tracks' is being released through the...
